# Light/Dark Mode

> Switch palettes instantly without losing consistency

The **Light/Dark Mode system** makes it possible to switch between palettes instantly without losing brand consistency. Instead of duplicating posts or rebuilding layouts, colors are defined in the **Theme collection** and connected to **Mode variables**, allowing every post, carousel, or cover to adapt with a single click.

This ensures that your social media assets remain visually coherent and accessible in both light and dark contexts — perfect for previewing how your content will look across platforms and environments.

## How It Works

* **Theme collection** → Stores your brand palettes in two groups: **Light** and **Dark**.
* **Mode collection** → Connects directly to those Theme variables, enabling one-click switching.
* Both Light and Dark groups contain the same structure:
  * **Base** → Neutrals, Accent, Card
  * **Shadow** → Shadow colors in multiple intensities

Because Mode tokens are linked to Theme tokens, you can switch modes instantly without losing your brand’s palette.

## Editing Light/Dark Modes

1. Open the **Mode collection** in Figma Variables.
2. Select **Light** or **Dark** mode.
3. Adjust values in the **Theme collection** (not in Mode directly).
   * Example: update your Accent color in Theme → Light group, and it updates across every component in Light Mode.
4. Toggle the Mode to preview all the posts, presentations and covers in Light or Dark instantly.

## Why It Matters

* **Consistency** → Ensures every element (text, background, shadows, cards) stays aligned between Light and Dark.
* **Accessibility** → Contrast is preserved by defining both Light and Dark values for every color.
* **Speed** → No need to rebuild layouts; switching is instantaneous.
* **Scalability** → Works across multi-brand setups (Client / Your Brand). Each brand retains its own Light/Dark palettes.

## Best Practices

* **Always edit Light/Dark colors in the Theme collection.** Never override directly in Mode.
* **Keep pairs aligned.** Every Neutral, Accent, and Card color should have both Light and Dark values defined.
* **Test contrasts.** After customizing palettes, preview both modes to ensure readability and accessibility.
* **Apply Mode at the highest level.** Use it on full pages or slides, not individual components, to preview changes correctly.
